Canfield                 Concerto after Glière for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra

Brahms                  Symphony No. 1 in C Minor

Concerto after Glière by David Canfield is a colorful tour de force dedicated to world famous master saxophonist Eugene Rousseau, Professor of Music at the IU Jacobs School of Music for 36 years.  This beautiful and melodic work will be performed by Rousseau's protégé, virtuoso saxophonist Kenneth Tse.  When Brahms wrote his First Symphony, he was already at the height of his creative powers.  The symphony is one of the most powerful and lush masterpieces in the orchestral repertoire.

“The name of Kenneth Tse has become synonymous with excellence

of the first order when it comes to playing the saxophone.”

Kerr, the season’s Johnson Distinguished Guest Artist, will be remembered for his show-stopping duet with Cho-Liang Lin at the 2006 Irwin Miller Tribute Concert.
